Foliage Report #18

November 2, 2002

An abundance of fall colors can now be seen in most of the region and in particular, the western half of the region where peak conditions abound. The eastern half is experiencing moderate (31 to 60 percent) to high (61 to 80 percent) color change. Some of the higher elevations of West Virginia and western Maryland have past peak.

Leaf drop in most of the region is moderate to high. Low leaf drop is still being reported in southern portions of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. In parts of western Maryland, leaf drop is nearly complete.
