Foliage Report #4

September 15, 2001
A majority of the Northeast is now reporting some degree of foliage color change. Low change is now being reported in northern sections of the western Maine mountains, and in spotty sections of Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey. The only areas yet to show any change are southern New Jersey, southeastern Pennsylvania, and coastal Connecticut.

Leaf drop is very low to non-existent in much of the Northeast. The northern sections of the western Maine mountains, sections of the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains in New York, and portions of northern Vermont are reporting low leaf drop. All tolled, leaf drop is still not an issue at this early stage of the foliage season.

This information provided by Marek D. Rzonca, The Foliage Network. The next report will be released Wednesday, September 19, 2001.
