Looking at the canopies in much of the Northeast, you might think you
were peering through a kaleidoscope. The ever familiar autumn hues of
yellow, orange, and red now dominate, as much of the foliage color has
reached high and peak levels. In portions of Maine, New Hampshire and
Vermont, conditions have now past peak. It is important to note however,
that many leaves remain on most of the trees in these regions, maintaining
ideal foliage viewing. Portions of southeast Pennsylvania, much of New
Jersey, the lower Hudson Valley and Long Island regions in New York, southern
Connecticut and Rhode Island, and southeastern Massachusetts remain at
low to moderate color change. There are also portions of upstate New York
and southern New Hampshire that are still in the moderate range.
Much of the Northeast is reporting low to moderate leaf drop. Some locations which are experiencing high and peak color change are now in the high range of leaf drop.
