1999 Foliage Report #16

October 23, 1999
Much of the foliage in New England is now at or past peak. The northern regions have gone past peak while most of the remaining areas are now at peak. The exceptions are along Cape Cod in Massachusetts and southern Rhode Island. In New York, the Adirondacks and the Catskills are now past peak, and the other areas upstate are now reporting peak color. The lower Hudson Valley and Long Island are yet to reach peak, but should be there within the next week or so. New Jersey and Pennsylvania continue to progress nicely.

Leaf drop has picked up considerably, especially in the areas reporting past peak conditions. That trend will continue as the foliage season begins to wind down.
