1999 Foliage Report #12

October 9, 1999
Peak conditions are now being reported in most of northern Maine, northern New Hampshire, much of Vermont, and sections of the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains in New York. Moderate to high color is present in the remainder of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Most of New York is also in the high to moderate range, the exception being in the Mohawk Valley and the Hudson Valley. Those regions are still experiencing only moderate color. Elsewhere in the Northeast, moderate color is predominating.

Leaf drop continues to be rather low and not affecting the foliage to a high degree. Most areas are reporting low to moderate leaf drop. The only areas reporting high leaf drop are in extreme northern Maine, northern New Hampshire, portions of central Vermont, and a small area in western New York.
